Performance Overview

The GSR4 Air Plus new environmentally friendly gas-insulated compact ring main unit (Gas Insulated Ring Main Unit) is a new type of environmentally friendly medium-voltage switchgear developed according to the customized requirements of the State Grid standards. It uses C4 hybrid environmentally friendly gas, with a global warming potential (GWP) reduced by more than 90% compared to SF6, effectively meeting environmental requirements for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. It can be perfectly combined with existing standardized SF6 ring main units and other standardized environmentally friendly cabinets.

    • Using New Environmentally Friendly Gas

      Unlike other environmental cabinets that use traditional gases (CO2, N2, dry air), this product uses a new C4 mixed environmentally friendly gas. While maintaining safety, reliability, and the same size, it provides users with a green and environmentally friendly option. The GWP (Global Warming Potential) of the C4 mixed gas is only 1/11 that of SF6 gas, a reduction of more than 90%. Users can choose the gas that suits them best: C4 mixed gas or SF6. When the product is selected with SF6 gas, it is entirely manufactured and tested according to the standards for C4 mixed gas, allowing for seamless upgrades in the future.

    • Fully Insulated and Fully Sealed Design

      The live parts of the GSR4 series switchgear (main busbars) and the switch body are sealed inside a gas-tight enclosure made of welded stainless steel plates. The main circuit is connected to the outside through bushings installed on the enclosure that comply with the DIN47636 standard, and can be connected to incoming and outgoing cables via fully insulated, fully shielded, and fully sealed detachable connectors. The enclosure has an IP67 protection rating, ensuring that the interior is unaffected by external environmental conditions, and it can withstand short-term flooding and condensation.

    • High Safety and Stability

      Equipped with a spring-operated mechanism developed in-house, the mechanism has been repeatedly optimized and upgraded for more stable operation and smoother transmission. Based on the optimized mechanism, the gas mixture has also been refined. It has now passed type tests at a national high-voltage electrical apparatus testing center. Each delivered AirPlus new ring main unit undergoes even more rigorous internal testing. In addition, it is equipped with a comprehensive mechanical interlock device to prevent human error.

    • Can be perfectly combined with existing ring main units

      The GSR4 Air Plus environmentally friendly gas-insulated ring main unit was designed and developed based on the existing standardized SF6 ring main unit. Therefore, it has excellent expandability and can be perfectly combined with existing standardized SF6 ring main units and standardized environmentally friendly cabinets.

    • Welding Sealing Technology

      The GSR4 series switchgear strictly controls the strength, hardness, and compressive deformation of materials for components involving elastic seals, such as dynamic seals (switch operating shaft), pneumatic gauges, high-voltage bushings, and explosion-proof valves, ensuring sealing performance through a series of tests and inspections.

      ■ High precision in gas chamber manufacturing: Drawing on industry experience, we have introduced laser cutting machines from Jiangsu Jinfangyuan under Germany's Trumpf, as well as CNC punching, shearing, and bending equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy in gas chamber components. Bending is done using Estun bending robots, and welding with ABB welding robots. Fully automated welding guarantees high efficiency, stable gas chamber quality, and aesthetically pleasing welds, preventing gas leakage inside the chamber and moisture intrusion from outside, ensuring stable performance of the GSR4 series gas-filled cabinets.

      Strict component quality control: Dynamic seals, densitometers, high-voltage bushings, and other components undergo detection using helium mass spectrometer leak detectors and X-ray nondestructive testing devices. Relevant insulation components are tested for partial discharge to ensure high-quality components and enhance the sealing performance of the gas chamber.

      ■ Comprehensive leak detection technology: In addition to component quality control, after assembly and gas filling, the gas chambers undergo further 100% leak detection.

      ■ High standards: The annual relative gas leakage rate is less than 0.01%, far exceeding the national standard requirement of less than 1%.
